Top Five Video Game Crushes Brad's Top 5

Brad's Top 5

5. Luna (Lunar: Silver Star Story) - I can't tell you how many times I watched that sequence when she is singing on the boat. I loved this character in this game and her leaving the party/story was tragic. Her return to the story was also one of the most memorable gaming moments for me. Not the only blue haired girl on my list though.
4. Tifa Lockheart (Final Fantasy 7) - o_O ...makes Lara Croft shy. She's always in my team despite her low tier qualities (her crappy limit break slots). She was clearly an inferior choice up against heavy hitters like Cid, Cloud, or Vincent but her character model won me over. So hawt for her time and her later iterations were even more impressive. Truly one of the very best initial uses of polygons.
3. Viki (Suikoden series) - Easily the most adorable of the list. Her character is very mysterious in that she is one of the few characters that has appeared in every Suikoden game. Some say that she has a True Rune and is therefore immortal while others believe (including me) she travels all over time because she is a Teleporter. Her problem is that she isn't a very good one. She seems to have a bad sneezing problem that causes her to teleport herself and other characters in and out of battles, the area, and even the entire game. In Suikoden 3 she even managed to cause some weird Back to the Future like time rift creating two different versions of Viki you could recruit. The young version of Viki was a brat though.
2. Julia Chang (Tekken series) - Julia has, hands down, the sexiest elbows in video game history. They will literally knock you off your feet. She is my most dependable gaming girl and helped me save money when other characters (namely Lee) let me down. The tree-hugger is a wannabe Native American, but in her prime she stood toe to toe with the other top tier Mishima bastards. Nowadays I find her competitively unplayable but she always manages to find way to the top of my roster. My Julia appears frail on the surface as she doesn't have the hard hitting moves a lot of the other characters have in their arsenal, but people soon get frustrated when they realize they are not winning any rounds (coughDavidcough).
1. Kos-Mos (Xenosaga series) - Can a man love a robot? Yes... yes he can. Kos-Mos is not only the hottest being in the Xenosaga universe, she is also one of the deadliest. I fell in love the first time I saw her materialize a gatling gun out of thin air. She has very much the personality of a robot but her relationship with Shion (the series protagonist) is always interesting. The game series is known for its excellent cinematics and Kos-Mos steals every one she's in. Sexy, strong, and she doesn't suffer from the constant yammering that can make other video game characters annoying.

Honorable mentions:
Jill Valentine (Marvel vs. Capcom 2)
Lightning (Final Fantasy 13)
Lady (Devil May Cry 3)
Presea (Tales of Symphonia)
Ulala (Space Channel 5)
Aya Brea (Parasite Eve)
Sorceress (Diablo 2)
Sami (Advance Wars)
Yuna (FFX)
Jeanne (Jeanne d'Arc) – a new fave
The ladies of Soul Calibur

Nick's Top 5
Top 5 Game Crushes
There is not much I can say about this list.  It was hard to think back over the years and pick only 5 of the most beautiful girls to grace a console.  We are all aware that many developers try to create the most over the top, scantily clad, sexy girls for their games but the true greats turn out to be the classier characters in my opinion.  So here they are in order from 5th place down to my first choice with a few honorable mentions.

5. Kitana (Mortal Kombat) - Princess Kitana first appeared in Mortal Kombat 2 I believe and continued on to become a series fan favorite all the way up through today’s more recent entries.  I picked her for my list not because of her personality or lack there of but because of her beauty, class, and not to mention the ability to whoop some serious ass.  She is both strong and graceful and easily one of the sexiest characters in gaming in my opinion.  Ill never understand what is so sexy about a girl that can kill a man with her legs but for whatever reason, it is.  Physically, I'm not sure what made Kitana so memorable; perhaps it is the tight, purple outfit or the fact that most of the time, her face is hidden from view but this girl screams sexy.  Her movie counterpart was definitely a good choice but their overall character design for her in the movie lost the essence of the character.  Personally I believe Kitana is a gaming character that outclasses most of the competition (especially among fighting game characters).  I have a great idea for a game, hear me out:  Princess Kitana: Extreme Beach Volleyball.
4. Nariko (Heavenly Sword) - This may be a bit premature considering Heavenly Sword hasn’t even hit store shelves but this girl is destined for greatness.  I was listening to Brad talk about the game on one of the more recent shows and he talked about how Nariko is a beautiful character without large breasts and everything hanging out for the world to see.  This is part of what attracts me to the character.  She is beautiful, deadly, and overall, she is classy.  There’s not much more to say about her but I can’t wait to see her in action and see how her story unfolds in this and hopefully future titles.  O yeah, she’s a redhead…. I love redheads!
3. Lady (Devil May Cry 3) - A lot of you may not know who I am referring to.  Lady was the spunky devil hunter in Devil May Cry 3 with the short black hair, different colored eyes, and the fighting ability that gave Dante a run for his money.  Lady was the first female character in the franchise that really caught my eye since the girls of the first two were mostly forgettable.  I loved her character design, her persistence, and her attitude.  It was also nice to see her really play a role that was interesting.  What can I say, this chick was cute and I hope to see her make a return in future Devil May Cry titles.
2. Rinoa (Final Fantasy VIII) - I knew I had to include a Final Fantasy character on this list but I really had a tough time choosing.  I think a big part of this character that brought me to this decision was her story that played in out in VIII.  She started out as the kind of shy girl that spied Squall from a distance and then slowly became this strong, outgoing, and often times, funny character.  The scene where she dances with Squall at the ball will always be stuck in my mind as one of my favorite moments in Final Fantasy.  The story really became focused on Squall and Rinoa watching out for each other and by the end of VIII, I had a real attachment to the character.  She is beautiful, classy, and new take on a classic formula for final fantasy heroines.
1. Claire Redfield (Resident Evil 2; Code Veronica) - The first game I played on the original Playstation was Resident Evil 2 and I instantly loved the character of Claire Redfield, even at that young age.  Most people who play Resident Evil would choose Jill Valentine as the better choice but for me, the choice is clear.  This is a girl who is introduced riding a motorcycle and wearing a red sleeveless biker jacket with red short shorts!  Jill was sexy but in my opinion Claire was cute and sexy at the same time.  Not only was she a physically attractive character but also she was really good at taking care of herself physically and she was a compassionate character.  By the end of the game, she stepped into the mother role and helped protect the daughter of William Birkin.  When she returned in Code Veronica, she was tougher than before but very determined.  So far, we know that there is an unidentified female character in Resident Evil 5 and I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for Claire to make a triumphant return.  It would be nice to see the character with a next generation makeover. On a side note, the fact that Ali Larter will be playing Claire in the upcoming Resident Evil Extinction sealed the deal for me.

Honorable Mentions:
-          Jill Valentine (Resident Evil 1, 3)
-         Yuna (FFX, X-2)
-         Tifa (FF VII, Advent Children)
-         Alice (Resident Evil movies- not mentioned because technically she’s not a game character but come on…. Its Milla Jovovich)
-         Regina (Dino Crisis 1 & 2)
-         That girl from the fish pond in Twilight Princess
Well that’s it for me.  Be back in a week for a new Top 5!  Peace!

David's Top 5
I've got a real bad feeling that I've forgotten someone and I'm sure I have. I'm pretty sure I'll be kicking myself later for leaving someone off the list. I sat around all week trying to make sure that I didn't forget anyone. I know there a bunch of headliners I left off the list, like Samus and Chun-Li. But this is my personal video game crushes list and those girls aren't exactly my type. First off let me start off by posting my

Honorable Mentions
Yorda (Ico)
Ema Skye (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)
Kazama Asuka (Tekken 5)
Tifa Lockheart (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children)

5. Hayami Akari (1080 Avalanche & Wave Race: Blue Storm) - So she's the dark horse on my list. I don't expect too many people to know her due to the fact that she's on two Nintendo "sports" titles. There's not really any story line involved with the two games, but I just found something attractive about a girl who one day is snowboarding down a mountain and then the next racing jet skis. If only she wasn't rumored to be involved with that damn Ricky Winterborne.
4. Keira (Jak & Daxter) - I'm strictly talking about Keira from the first Jak & Daxter game, before the world went all dark and she became all annoying & nagging. In the Precursor Legacy Jak game Keira was always so upbeat and helpful. She a white undershirt and overalls and looked cute as hell doing it. She was always giving me encouragement and appreciative of my hard work. Plus she's the mechanic tech geek and that's always attractive. But after the Jak makeover though, she kind of became all jealous when I talked to other girls and gave an attitude every time I asked her a question. Things didn't go so well and I lost interest in her after that. But for a while, I had a huge crush on her.
3. Kasagano Sakura (Rival Schools) - Sakura is a really common name in Japan. If you've watched any anime, you've probably seen a few characters named so. But when talking about Sakura from the Rival School/Street Fighter series, you're really dealing someone quite different. I'm a little jealous that she's always chasing after Ryu trying to get him to train her, but thankfully he's never interested. What I'm most attracted to about Sakura is that her bubbly personality still meshes well with her fighter's mentality. She's got great morals and is always looking to help out those in need. She's always trying to protect her friends and at times she takes on more then she can handle, but she never backs down from doing what's right. And that's why Kasugano Sakura is my third crush, that and the fact that she's always running around in a school uniform.
2. Hitomi (Dead or Alive) - Ah, that damn Itagaki. He's been able to create a plethora of women for his games. While I like all of them, I felt Hitomi, which means eyes in Japanese, was the only one worth mentioning on my list. She was first introduced in Dead or Alive 3 and I've always had my Hitomi on Hitomi since. Reasons I chose Hitomi over the other girls. She's not some crazy Ninja or Assassin with emotional baggage to carry into a relationship. She's a cute girl who's also a powerhouse, not a very common combination. She graced the Japanese cover for DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball and I liked her selection of swimsuits better. She's not an apprentice geisha and gets along with most of the other fighters (in other words, she's not a bitch).  She's a very straightforward person and is respectful and honorable in all her actions. Finally she's goofy and can cook breakfast (watch DOA4 ending). On a side note, I'm currently still learning how to make a sachertorte which is of course her favorite dessert.
1. Alice & Toshiba Emi (Dance Dance Revolution) - It's a little unfair but I com I combined two character into the number one spot, but I didn't two characters from the same game on my top five list, I thought that'd be a little excessive.

Alice - It's a shame that Alice was only a selectable character in DDR 5th Mix. I always played the player two side of the machine so that I could pick her. She's made a few cameos on a couple of the music videos playing in the background of DDR but that's the extent of her appearances in DDR. If she had been in a few more of the mixes she may have just won my top spot outright. I've spent a couple Valentine's Days at the machine with Alice and I'll never forget the time I spent with her. She was so sweet, she gave me a toothache.

Toshiba Emi - In kind of a marketing ploy Emi was named after Toshiba's recording label. I've been known Emi since I first started playing DDR on a 3rd mix Korean 2 machine. She always been there with her shower cap hat as kind of the DDR poster girl. Konami did away with the whole character selection screen after 5th mix, but still Emi made frequent appearances in the music videos playing in the background. For example I was always chasing after Emi in the video for Graduation. Recently they slid the characters back into the arcade. In Super Nova you have the option to choose which character is dancing in the background instead of it being selected randomly. Of course I always have it set to Emi and of course she's never been cuter. I don't think there is anything cuter than a girl shaking her booty with a big smile on her face. I played DDR with many different people, but none of them have stuck with me as long as Emi has, that's why I choose her as my number one video game crush.
